I’ve got so much talent it’s a little scary
is my every random thought insightful – very
not just entertaining; I’m a luminary..

(from Neils turn – Commentary! The musical)

I’m very amazed by this man. I’ve seen him in so many different roles and he really shines in all of them. Somehow you want to put a label on someone and say they are that kind of actor. After watching several different roles I decided he is best in comedy. Then I watched some series that he plays murderer and he can do those roles and dramas without problem.

He can sing, he can dance, he can laugh at himself, he can do magic. He has an amazing voice so I wished he’d make more audio books. As he talk clearly it is a great way to learn English. The fact that he mostly read children books, and in most cases when he gives his voice does it for superheroes TV-series, and also is in the new Smurf movie makes me think he still is a child at heart. From that I suspect he is a great father.

Funny thing – I came across a quotation from his that he hated Britney Spears after she appeared in HIMYM. I was a bit suprised by this so I read through the “story” and his clarification and my faith was restored:

I read what he would have said:

“I’m in the minority that our show does not need stunt casting in order to succeed…. I worry that if they start Will & Grace-ing us too much, that the show will suffer.”

And that would mean he hated the singer/actress he commented on? Isn’t that taking this too far? I think “Abby” fitted in to the show quite well, however the episode “Blitzgiving” felt a bit too much written about Jorge Garcia /”Hurley” which in my opinion so I think NPH was right in his statement.

“As I have said all along, Britney did a great job on the show. She really did. In fact, we are all hoping that she returns rather soon to
reprise her role as Abby. Look, that episode garnered our highest ratings of the season — I would never ignore or disrespect that fact. I
am just very protective of our show, and its content. I have a high standard of quality, and hope to maintain it on every level. Television
is big business, I understand that. I have great faith in our casting department, as well as [Twentieth Century Fox Television] and CBS, to
find the appropriate person for every role on our show. I was remiss in speculating otherwise. My job description is to act, and I should
really do just that.

“Britney Spears fits into our make-believe world very well — if she chose to return I can only imagine that Carter [Bays], Craig [Thomas],
and the rest of the writers would create a humdinger of a storyline for her. We should be so lucky.” (Additional reporting by Whitney Pastorek and Adam B. Vary)

Of course NPH is in the right to like/dislike anybody, but he come across as a sympathic person that wouldn’t ventilate that kind of thing to the media. Being that amazing as he is – he still come across as a down to earth person.

The gang are realizing that all their partners have some likeness to their parents. Both Lily and Marshall starts to see some of their fathers in each other. Kevin can see his mother in Robin when she seem to prefer Ted before him. Barney is trying to finally get in bed with Nora. Not having that much luck I’d say. But she has a very good voice we find out in this episode so I’m hoping we’ll get a duet with her and Barney sometime.

Seems like this season won’t be Ted’s strongest. He is very fragile and lonely and more pathetic than usually. And as Barney doesn’t seem to progress much with Nora and we still don’t know who he’ll end up marry the future mother seems very distant so far.

It’s harder to date now a days than before, everyones lifes is an open book on Internet it seems so Robin and Barney always checks up on Ted’s date. This time he has picked up a girl and he decide that he wants the mystery. So he forbids them to check up on her. But there is no way they will respect his wishes.

Lily and Marshall has gotten an envelop with the gender of the baby. But they have decided not to check it out. While the rest of the gang is gathering helping Marshall and Lily paint the nursery (well, actually the only painting going on is by Kevin, Robin’s ex-therapist/boyfriend) yellow.

Barney and Robin finds out something extraordinairy about Ted’s date, but he reject the link, and they have just succeeded in breaking the ice on the date. But when Lily and Marshall also urge him to check it up he realise what an amazing person she is – and ends up spoiling the date by being intimidated by her.

And in the end Marshall and Lily finds out that it will be a boy, so Kevins goes out to buy blue paint.

Robin starts dating her therapist – which is a bit impressive thinking of their first meeting. Barney starts to think that Nora is 37 and therefore a bit older than he cares to date. And Ted is taking his students on field trip. Marshall is disappointed at his boss – the great environmental lawyer that seem to have been giving up hope of fighting for the nature. But after talking to Marshall he decide to fight again.

Loves Martin Short as Marshall’s boss. Also liked the Robin story. Teds field trip and Barney’s anxiety of Nora dislike of the ewoks – not so much.

Ok, this was one of those episodes that just offered some laughs but nothing new. We’ve already gone through the Playbook, and now we get other stunts that Barney pulled to get laid. This time it’s Robin telling the story when she’s at the therapist. She is having a hard time dealing with Barney’s relation with Nora and has now been forced to talk to a therapist after she has assaulted a woman.

She also add the story where Ted is trying to be part of the “Team Baby” as he feels he is something of an extra dad to the baby. Lily is less than thrilled.

Not one of the best, even though there are some laughs. Barney as super gay hairdresser was extremely funny anyway.

This is kinda in between episodes. Nothig major happens but there are a lot of funny parts. Ted is telling about the “date” with Victoria after the meeting at the ball. And they are all, most of all Barney, impressed by Lily’s breast that has started growing during the pregnancy.

So there is a bet. But the question is how much Barney has planned for this? And how long before has he started the scheming. If he wins he gets to touch Lily’s breas – and if he loose he gets to wear Marshall’s hideous duck ties. It seems like he’s winning – but Lily is ready to fight dirty as well.

One especially funny line that I as a swede appreciate was when Ted says: “You make it sounds like I dated a series of Stieg Larsson novels”

Second episode. There are three stories here. Marshall trying to get a new job and some of his past may give him problems. Ted trying to find the perfect date to his ball. And Barney trying to getting Nora to trust him. As usual Barney’s part is the most interesting. After starting trying to be on her good side with faking an injury he promise to be totally honest with her. So he tells her everyone of his lies getting a girl in bed. Nora are sitting and listening through most of them – as someone watching a car wreck. She then says she’s not interested, although he is cute and funny he is a sociopath. But Barney points out that she had stayed, and wows to stay at the 24-7 diner until she’s ready to go out on a second date with him. And after a night she gives in.

Marshall finds an old youtube with him streaking. He tries to get the guy that uploaded it to take it down, but ends up making a new streaking when he gets drunk. But all ends well. And I love Martin Short as his future boss by the way.

The third story is Ted that has gotten two girls interested using his front cover magazine. He’s trying to get the perfect one two the ball. But he ends up realising he’s not particularly interested in either one of them. So he ends up taking Robin. And at the ball he sees Victoria catering.

It had been a summer and I though I’ve longed for the new season I still were a little late in starting to watch it. I was a bit afraid what I would feel. Suddenly Barney was marrying and we were starting off with this. Really? But it was great! Suddenly we get a new twist of wondering. Who is it Barney will marry? Is it Nora or Robin? Before it felt so right with Nora but seeing the dance between Robin and him really was great. So I can understand that Barney has trouble to decide about the tie. Who did he choose? And was it the right choice? So I liked the premiere episode. I loved the Punchy wedding. I loved the toasts. It felt good to start off having three episode in a row to see.

I’m not really sure what I think/thought about the Mesmerist. It was not bad but not my kind of humor in most cases. I borrow the user comments from a viewer, Vittek, from IMDB as I think it describe it better:

Because Daisy’s (Jessica Capshaw) father is dying, her and her fiance Benjamin (Neil Patrick Harris) make one last visit to his home before he goes to the great beyond. But her father (Howard Hesseman) isn’t about to go without a fight. Using a half-mad mesmerist (Jason Carter) he is going to journey to the other side while still communicating with the living. This could have easily been a bad horror flick, but the characters are so dysfunctional that it leads to some outlandish British comedy style humor

This was a serie that you obviously needed to have followed to understand the whole thing. There was a lot of plots for all people. It seemed like it could have been quite interesting to watch – but I didn’t particulary like this episode due to the core story.

I was very saddened of this. I didn’t like the fact that the mother lied to the sons about their father. That she disregarded their feelings that they wanted to know about the roots. I also didn’t like that they had to make an oral presentation about the family in front of the class. Not everyone knows about their biological parents. There can be many reason for this.

And it felt so very bad hearing the son lying and the friend who forces him to continue spinning the tale so everyone understand it is just a lie.

NPH role was just as a future professor talking about his paper on the current president’s mother. Grace, and he has found out some information about the father. Not much to say about the acting. He was good for the role due to his expressive face I’d say, but I don’t think it was much of a challenge.

Of some reason I was convinced I wouldn’t like this movie much so I didn’t have much hope on it. I was pleasently suprised as I found the movie hilarious funny. And NPH was part of making it that.
The story is about a conspiracy from a a group led by The Man keeping black people away from power. He is opposed by a black group Brotherhood.

It’s very much James Bond. I love Chris Kattan as the Feather. And Eddie Griffin was fantastic as Undercover Brother. Wonder if this is the first time NPH says “Whazzup!”. Have heard him say it in some different TV-series and movies since.

I also note that it is the third movie/episode I see with Denise Richard and NPH.
