Last week episode is forgiven and forgotten- this was a great follow-up of Legendaddy. Barney’s father continues to try to connect to his son. He wants to take Barney out together with the younger son, JJ, on a fishing trip. Barney is disappointed that he is no more Crazy Jerry, so he invites him to go out with him instead to tempt him back to that life. To impress his father more he tries to make out his life and friends to be more exciting, casting the gang in different roles.

Trying to impress Barney – and also discourage him – Jerry pretends to be drunk and behave badly, ending up being handcuffed by the police at the curb. They have a real talk, and Barney is touched that his father lied to impress him.

To make sure Jerry can go out to the fishing trip with JJ they get a ride with one of Jerry’s pupils. Barney confide in his father that he has started to question his life, and the future. He ask how he should change – the answer is more who to do it with then how Jerry says, and says that Barney will meet the right girl. Barney sighs and says, maybe I already have. My guess it is Nora that is on his mind. But of course it could be Robin as well.

Robin, on the other side is cast as Ted’s girlfriend in the play for Barney’s father. Which gets in the way when she sees a guy she had a crush on a few years ago. He seemed interested in her then – and now, and both time Ted interrupt the conversation.

Lily and Marshall is cast as a fashion mogul and playwriter in an open marriage. They take the role very seriously, and once again they are trying to prove who is the reacher and the settler in the marriage.

There were some jokes that became a bit strained after awhile, but overall I really liked the episode. Not as epic as Legendaddy of course, but promising for the future.

This was really a let down after the latest episodes. On the other hand I guess they needed to tone down Barney a bit and not having him become the hero. They need him to be a comical relief acting irrational. In this case I felt his anger towards Marshall felt very bizarre.

The second story was Marshall quittin his job to become an environmental lawyer volunteer. Lily does her best acting supportive, but get more and more frustrated. It ‘s a bit strange as they have a very high cost home that he can consider doing this. Wasn’t it 18% interest? And what about all money Lily owed, is that fixed now? I think it have been quite stupid of Lily to resent him working there when her action has been a cause. On the other hand that would be a reason for her to really, really act supportive whatever her true feelings are.

Not going well with Zoey and Ted. Not surprising. I don’t like the Zoey character at all so I hope he will loose her soon.

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever learn. I was kind of sceptical about à musical number in HIMYM.  I mean hearing NPH singing, well that got to be ok just for that – but otherwise I wasn’t that hopeful.

About the same reaction as I had when I heard they made a musical of a Buffy the Vampire slayer episode. I mean, really, who would ever think that would work? Well, worked well enough to have me buy the soundtrack.  And it worked equal well in this episode.

As I read up on the information about One more time musical I read that the only one not happy about the singing was Alyson Hannigan, and therefore she didn’t have so many lines. And then she ends up singing here again. Maybe that was why she was interrupted 🙂
Nothing Suits Me Like A Suit

I know what you’re thinking
What’s Barney been drinking?
That girl was smoking hot
Yes I coulda nailed her
But no it’s not a failure
‘Cuz there’s one thing she is not
To score a ten would be just fine
But I’d rather be dressed to the nines
It’s a truth you can’t refute
Nothing suits me like a suit
Picture a world
where all the boys and girls
Are impeccably well dressed
That delivery guy
in the jacket and tie
That puppy in the double-breast
That ’80s dude in mutton chops
That baby with a lollipop
That lady cop who’s kinda cute
Nothing suits ‘em like a suit
Wingman I can wear
They’re oh so debonair
The perfect way to snare
a girl with daddy issues
In navy blue or black
Check out this perfect rack
I want to give them a squeeze

Oh really? Then answer these questions
If you please
What would you do if you had to choose
Between your suits and a pot of gold?
Suits.
What would you say
If you gave your suits away
In return you’d never grow old?
Suits.
What would you pick
One million chicks
Or a single three-piece suit?
It’s moot.
What if world peace
Were within your reach …
Abbadabada I’m gonna stop you right there. It’s suits. Come on, Lily. Get your head outta your ass.
Two! Three! Four!
Girls will go and girls will come
But there’s only one absolute
Every bro on the go needs to know
That there’s no accepted substitute
I’m sorry suits, let’s make amends
My Sunday best are my best friends
Send casual Friday down the laundry chute
‘Cuz nothing suits the undisputed oft-saluted suitor of repute
Like a …. wait for it …
Suit!

Sometimes I get a bit embarressed by part of the Barney Stinson character. When watching a series you come to get to know the characters. As the star of the show is Barney he gets to play out very different in different episodes. In this episode he is very childish and resenting his father. When he is insulting both the new wife and attacking the son I just felt it was a bit of the top, on the other hand I realised it was the child-Barney reacting for being rejected as a family for this family instead. When he in someway expresses. If you wanted to be a lame suburbian father, why couldn’t you be that with me. I fell in tears. I felt so sorry for Barney that somewhere realise he is emotionally crippled, which he must have come to understand after the Nora story, and now he blames this on the father.

And the father takes it in a good way and reaching out and gives Barney what he can do now. Help to use tools. Better late then never. There is so many perfect emotional moments. When Marchall tells him he still has chance to speak with his father.

When seeing a comedy I don’t want to have just one liners or punchlines. I want to be able to laugh with compassion, some understanding of the characters. And this episode really enriched Barney.I hope they can keep this up and not destroy it just to get some more laughs. The other story where everyone in the gang pointed out when they’ve made a fool of themselves was a perfect balance for the Barney and his dad’s sad relation.

Part of me is happy that there will be another 2 years if I read the NPH tweet correctly. Part of me is afraid what that will mean. Someone suggested the continuing story that I found very fitting.

The wedding is Barney and Nora, and the mother is Barneys sister that is in the college now. That would make sense. But can they continue this with Barney in a relationship?

This episode is about Barney Stinson. Yes, there is a fun side story about the canine boyfriend of Robin, but it was Barneys love story that is the important thing. Suddenly he has found his perfect mate.

At the same time everyone is checking the heart as they are frightened after the sudden death of Marshalls father.

Of course he blews it. I’d say it’s partly due to Lily’s advice. Had they let him play this his own way he might have not spilled the bean directly. It ends sadly. And a lot of tears from my side. Barney and Robin was so perfect as a couple as they were in perfect synch with each other with jokes and so. Of course they can’t be together as this would destroy the group dynamic, so that they still love and care about each other in a platonic way is great.

A lovesick Barney fighting for love is lovely, and therefore I hope Nora will return for him to make a fool of himself in front of, and then end up happy ever after:)

I get so amazed with NPH performance. He really is able to sell in Barney. Barney is an ubelievable character, but NPH succeed in making him believable. And adorable as well. That is a talent.

Robin is trying to set Barney up with Nora, but he pretends not to be interested. It’s clear that he is scared of his feelings for her but he is smiling every time he says her name which makes the gang realise he really are hooked.

Marshall have evaluated his life and realised that his father will never see him as an environmental lawyer so he wants to start doing things for the environment. But the only thing he succeed in is getting a coworker fired. During his frenzied hunt for doing something worthwhile he keeps avoiding sex making Lily really losing it.

In the end she realises that he is afraid for getting a family and thus being trapped working as a corporate lawyer, and therefore not having sex. So they agree to postpone the family thing till he finds his way.

And Barney decides to call Nora after being pushed by Robin.

I liked the episode, especially poor Lily trying to get some. And Barneys way of finding out how long since both Lily and Robin did it.

It’s the day before Valentine.

Marshall is still in Minnesota letting his mother take care of him. His mother can’t tell him that having him there makes it harder for her, but she begs Lily to bring him home. Lily is a bit shocked to find the teenage Marshall and has a hard time to convince him to get home.

Ted and Zoey has just got together and question is how serious they are.

Barney talks about Desperation Day, the day before Valentine when single girl are desperate to get a date. The best time to catch someone. But the rule is not to stay past midnight – as you will end up the Valentine date.

Robin is not impressed by Valentine and says it’s not that important for all singles. She proves it having two colleagues at the bar. However, they eagerly follows the first guy that ask them out. The last friend to show up is Nora, and she immediately catches Barney’s eye. Especially since she look through his scheme trying to seduce her.

Ted flees New York and Zoey to “help” Marshall. Marshall talks to him about it’s no use fleeing for reality. And they both return.

Robin sets up Barney with Nora playing laser tag, and you can see Barney falling in love.

I like the episode, even though it’s not one of the best. I feel like Zoey and Ted are not convincing as a couple.

Marshall is still with his mother and he gets updated by his friends about what’s going on between Ted and Zoey.

It was a date between Ted and her hot cousin that ended up with Ted leaving the cousin for Barney instead.

Ted realises that he’s in love with Zoey. And when Marshall talks with Barney he realises that Zoey is in love with Ted as well.

Ted tries to break up with Zoey, telling her Lily hates her, Lily tells her it is Robin who hater her, and Robin forwards the ball to Marshall.

Then Zoey’s cousin calls Marshall as she has found his number in the cell phone that Barney throw away at her place. She gives him some more information about the night with Barney, and also some important news about Zoey.

So Marshall calls Zoey up while she is trying to figure out Ted’s deal and tells her he loves her. Then he calls Ted and tell him that Zoey is getting a divorce and that she loves him. So they start kissing.

I like the way this episode is built up, with the way every one gives Marshall updates so he can see what was going on.

Marshall’s dead is dead and the gang is at the funeral trying to support him. They have different roles for this.

Lily is on “Judy-duty” taking care of Marshalls mother. The only way to get Judy to take a break and eat is when she is angry with Lily so Lily let her take out all anger at her.

Robin is the fixer who has everything Marshall (and everyone else) need to keep it up.

Barney and Ted are trying to comfort Marshall by showing different clips on the theme getting hit.

The theme for the ceremony is the last words, which takes Marshall very hard as he has no good last words to remember. He then gets a voice mail from his phone that has been out of power for a while and he is afraid that he will not like the words.

It is a very emotional episode, and I like it. They succeeded in making the emotion real but still throwing in some comical parts. Like the bullying minister.

When he should give some sperm samples his parents unexpectedly turns up.

Robin starts her new work and its a nightmare. The host of the show is River Sanders, and he helps dig up all the dirt on Robin making her a laughing stock.
